The Men’s 3s ended January with a trip to Phoenix and Ranelagh, with a 100% record in 2020, with wins over Sonning and Oxford.
Phoenix started the better team and was the better team for the first 15 minutes, which was rewarded with an early goal after some poor Staines marking. However Staines would dominate the rest of the half, with chances created but not taken, until the time ran out on the first half, when Bob Cooke turned in a deflection, to send us into the break 1-1.
The second half started with some questionable defending leading to Charlie Café for the second week running, making a great pass to their centre forward, who, unlike last week, promptly scored. However, as the game got messier, culminating in a green card for an opposition player for some foul language, Staines became the better team and would score three times. Luke Hart scored twice, including a great finish top corner after beating the keeper, which was either side of a great Alex Pearson reverse hit that nutmegged the keeper.
